🌟 Introduction: The Land Where Time Stands Still
Nestled on the banks of the Gomti River in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, Naimisharanyam (also called Naimisharanya) is one of the oldest and holiest pilgrimage sites in India. At the heart of this divine forest lies the sacred Chakra Tirth — a mystical spot believed to be the center of spiritual energy, where sages once gathered to preserve the knowledge of the Vedas.
🔱 The Legend of Chakra Tirth: When Vishnu’s Chakra Chose the Spot
According to ancient scriptures, the sages approached Lord Brahma asking for a pure and divine place to perform a grand yagna (sacred fire ritual). Lord Brahma released a sudarshan chakra (divine disc) and instructed them to follow it until it stopped. The chakra finally halted and vanished into the earth at Naimisharanya. That very point became known as Chakra Tirth.
It is believed that at this very place, the divine energy of Lord Vishnu entered the Earth, making it the most sacred center for meditation, penance, and scriptural knowledge.

Chakra Tirth is considered a “Teerthraj” — the king of all pilgrimage sites. Many believe that a single visit here is equivalent to visiting thousands of other holy places. Devotees take a Dip in the Chakra Kund, a circular pond at the site, believed to wash away sins and grant spiritual elevation.
It is also said that this land is timeless. In fact, the name “Naimish” is derived from “Nimesh”, meaning a Blink of an eye, as it is believed that Lord Vishnu destroyed a demon here in a fraction of a second.
